Where: Church of the Redeemer, 5700 Forbes Ave.; next to St. Edmund's Academy
When: Thursday 6:30-8:30pm; Weekly Introduction 6:30--6:50pm

Revs. Jisen Coghlan and Catherine Gammon first met in 1997 during a Zen retreat in Pittsburgh. Jisen was ordained by Rev. Kyoki Roberts, Head Priest of the Zen Center of Pittsburgh, in the lineage of the Dainin Katagiri Roshi and Catherine was ordained by Rev. Tenshin Reb Anderson in the lineage of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. Both ordained in 2005 and completed Shuso, head monk position, within a year of each other. Coming from distinct training lineages and different backgrounds, they hope to bring their experience and skills together creating a welcoming, supportive and challenging opportunity for Zen practice in the city.

They will offer weekly sessions of instruction, zazen, walking meditation, service and chanting. Informal, individual meetings for practice discussion can be arranged with either of them upon request. Dharma talks, study discussions or formal liturgy will be offered based on the development of the group.

There is parking in the front of the church and behind on Darlington Street. Please do not park in the lane between the back of the building and Darlington Street as this is reserved for church personnel. Also, do not leave items visible in your car as, unfortunately, there have been thefts in the area. Please enter through the back of the church through the red door, ring the bell and someone will be there to welcome you. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing appropriate for sitting on either a cushion or a chair; cushions will be available. If attending the Introduction, arrive by 6:20pm or for meditation no later than 6:50pm. Donations for the use of space will be gratefully received and deeply appreciated. For further inquiry, please email either Jisen or Catherine

The Chapel is located in the Science Center Building; there is ample, free parking on the campus. All donations will go to supporting the first ever sustainable garden to be built on campus grounds.
